TO DO LIST

  • If you copied a previous semesters Canvas page over to your current semester and your course had the DayONE Access Module and link already on it, then this will copy over to your current semesters Canvas page. You will find that you have both the copied Module and link from your previous page and the auto uploaded one from VitalSource, delete one.
  • Move the DayONE Access Module to the top of the Modules page so that students can easily find their course materials. (Video Instructions HERE)
  • If this is your first time your course is in the DayONE Access program, you will only have the DayONE Access module and link auto uploaded by VitalSource.
  • This new link will be found under Modules. The module is named: DayONE Access (eTextbook and Courseware) Please do not change the name of this Module.
  • Add the Cengage MindTap link in the DayONE (eTextbook and courseware) module so that your link for students to access MindTap will be directly under the DayONE Access (eTextbook and courseware) link. Name the MindTap “Click here to access MindTap” (students will also be able to access assignments from the assignments tab from the left-hand navigation bar as well if you have your course set up this way)
  • See example below.
  • Add a new tab to the DayONE Access module that includes the instructions below. (Name this tab something like: “How to find your e-text and MindTap” or “Instructions for accessing course materials”)
  • Add a new tab to the DayONE Access module named “Troubleshooting Tips”, add Troubleshooting tips sent to you attached to this email.

                                                                           

  • You may want to update the name of the DayONE Access link to let students know that this link will only be used if they want to Opt Out of the materials and source them on their own. See example below:

If you need assistance adding the Cengage link to the DayONE module, have not set up your course in Canvas or have not paired your course with your Cengage Course materials, you can get assistance from your Cengage Rep:

How to locate your eTextbook/courseware in Canvas for a DayONE Access course

  1. Sign into Canvas and enter your Canvas course.
  2. Click any link to Cengage content to continue the registration process.
  3. Not sure where to click? Ask your instructor or try clicking on a few links. You’ll know you’ve clicked the right one when you see the Cengage login screen.
  4. If you already have a Cengage account, log in now. New to Cengage? Click “Create Student Account” and register. We recommend using your school email.
  5. To verify your account, open the ‘Welcome to Cengage’ email you just received and click ‘Activate Cengage Account’ to set your password and complete the registration process. Be sure to use the same device and browser to create and verify your account. (You might already have a Cengage account if you’ve used MindTap, CengageNOWv2, OWLv2, SAM, WebAssign or another Cengage platform in a different course) Linking your accounts is a one-time process. If you’ve previously completed this step for another course, you won’t be prompted to do it again.
  6. You’ve found your course materials! Your Cengage course materials have already been purchased and you now have full access to them! Click “Continue” to access your course.
  7. Remember: always access your Norton content from your Canvas course to continue enjoying codeless access and grade syncing.

Opting Out

Please be advised it is NOT recommended that you Opt-Out, as these materials are required by your professor to complete the course and the fee charged is the at a very low market price, but to do so:

  1. Go to the Module named DayONE Access (eTextbook and Courseware) 
  2. Click on the link DayONE Access (eTextbook and Courseware).
  3. Click on: Load DayONE in a new window.
  4. Click the ‘Want to opt-out?’ button. 
  5. Select your reason why and click opt Out.

If you opt Out, you will be responsible for purchasing these materials on your own. A refund of your book/courseware fee will be put back on your student account for you to receive your refund in 4-6 weeks. You will lose access to your courseware after the pot out deadline; the 8th day of classes for 16 week classes and the 6th day of class for 8 week classes.

You can opt back in at any time before the opt Out deadline; the option to opt in will not be available after the opt Out date.

If you have OPTed OUT and it is after the deadline when you click on your instructor’s links for any Cengage content, you will see that payment is required or you can use your own access code. Once you do either of these you will access the course links from any Cengage content the same as before you opted out.
