How to access Pearson courseware for a DayONE course in Canvas
Log into Canvas and access your Canvas course.
Make sure that POP up blocker setting is set to allow pop ups.
From left navigation bar click on the DayONE Materials:
Click on: Load DayONE in a new window
You may see more than one course’s DayONE materials, select the correct course materials from your library:
Click Launch Courseware.
Some Pearson materials have Read Now button, and some do not, if there is not a Read Now button then the eBook will be found in the courseware once you click the Launch Courseware button)
Click Read Now
You have a choice to continue without an account, sign into your existing Bookshelf account or create one.
When clicking Launch Courseware you will:
Agree to terms of service and Sign into your Pearson Account or Create account.
You have a Pearson account if you have ever used a Pearson MyLab, Mastering or Revel product, such as MyLab Math, MyLab IT, MyLab Spanish, Mastering Biology, Mastering Physic or Revel for…
When creating a Pearson Account use your gtcc.edu email address.
If you have taken a previous DayONE course in Canvas at GTCC using a Pearson product you will go directly to your course materials.
When clicking Read Now you will:
You have a choice to continue without an account, sign into your existing Bookshelf account or create one.
**Having a Bookshelf account offers the benefit of being able to access your eText from other devices and outside of Canvas.
Enter in the email address you will use for your Bookshelf account, we suggest using your gtcc.edu email, and click continue (if you have a completed Bookshelf account, use that same email when logging in)
If you continue without an account, you will be asked to Agree to Terms then you can start using your eText.
If your email is not tied to an existing Bookshelf account, you will be asked to complete your Bookshelf account by providing a password and agreeing to the terms of use.
You will receive a verification email, once you verify your account you can start reading your eBook!
OPTING OUT
Please be advised it is NOT recommended that you Opt-Out, as these materials are required by your professor to complete the course and the fee charged is at a discounted price, but to do so:
From left navigation bar click on the DayONE Materials:
Click on: Load DayONE in a new window
You may see more than one course’s DayONE materials, select the correct course materials from your library:
click the ‘Want to opt-out?’ button.
Select your reason why and click: Opt Out.
If you Opt Out:
- You will be responsible for purchasing these materials on your own.
- A refund of your book/courseware fee will be put back on your student account for you to receive your refund in 4-6 weeks.
- You will lose access to your courseware after the opt out deadline.
- You can opt back in at any time before the opt out deadline; the option to opt in will not be available after the opt out deadline has passed.
If you have OPTed OUT and it is after the deadline when you click on links for Pearson course materials or eText or the Launch Courseware button, you will reach a pop up that will display purchase options or enter your own access code for the required Pearson materials. When you click to purchase, you will be directed to a checkout process to purchase digital access at the full retail price (the price without the DayONE Access discount). This will be a direct credit card transaction directly from the publisher.
Once you complete any of these steps your access to the course materials will be restored.
**Some publishers may have the choice to start a limited trial, if you do this know that once this trial period has ended you will lose access to your materials and must purchase.
