The Ragsdale YMCA at GTCC Jamestown is home to our Physical Education and Athletics Programs. The YMCA offers reduced memberships to GTCC students, faculty and staff. The YMCA offers students and faculty an indoor pool, basketball courts, a cycling/yoga studio, weight room and indoor track.
In addition, they offer high-quality programs including Active Older Adults sessions, Youth programs like summer camp and after school care, sports leagues, swim lessons, and much more. Convenient to our main campus, many faculty and students stop in for a quick workout before and after work or on their lunch. GTCC's Physical Education Department and Athletics:
The Physical Education Dept.: Faculty offices and classrooms are located in the YMCA at the Jamestown Campus. GTCC offers and amazing Pathway to an Associate of Arts in Physical Education. The GTCC Physical Education Pathway aligns with general education elective courses and prepares you for transfer to undergraduate Bachelor of Science degree programs that emphasize careers in kinesiology, exercise science, sports medicine, health promotion and wellness. Many classes are taught at this state of the art facility led, by our wonderful faculty. Located just off of Gate City Blvd. and our Bonner Rd. entrance, most find the Ragsdale YMCA a convenient benefit to taking classes or working at GTCC.
GTCC Athletic teams: Titan Athletics competes in Region X under the NJCAA. The Titans Women's/Men's Basketball and Women's Volleyball team all practice and play home games at the YMCA gym. Titans Baseball plays at Ragsdale High School across the street from GTCC and at High Point Rockers and the Greensboro Grasshoppers stadiums most years. All Titans teams use the Ragsdale YMCA as their workout facility. Come out and support our true student athletes and admission is always free at games!
